"If there is one point I'd like to make in this column, it's this: each of us has the same feelings, fears, and foibles that accompanies all of human nature. We are more alike than we ever acknowledge." Column 27: 1992

Here are some suggested outlines for a weekend with Jack Rinella. Feel free to ask about other ideas or to modify these ideas to suit your educational needs.

The Master/slave Dynamic

One

The Roles of Master and slave
We'll begin by reviewing the continuum of dominance and submission and how those roles complement one another as well as have many qualities in common. We'll discuss trust, respect, empowerment, and the service one partner renders to the other.

Two

Knowing Yourself as Prelude to Being Yourself
How do we shed years of socialization in order to become our authentic selves? How do we know what that self is? Yes we can grow and change. Here are some ways to do so.

Three

Looking for Mr/Ms Right
Finding, negotiating, and committing are steps in the process. Here how's we can implement them in a systematic and reasonable way, while we avoid falling for Mr/Ms Right Away.

Four

Reality D/s
Share Jack's twenty-plus years of eduation in D/s while you learn the reality of living a life that begins with fantasy. We'll answer questions about the reality of D/s, including contracts, schedules, obedience, limits, etc.

Searching for Spirit in a Sexual Encounter

One

The Mind Body Connection
Let's begin with an exploration of who we are as physical beings. Understanding ourselves as manifestations of brain waves, endorphins, and subconscious and instinctive activities will help us maintain a perspective on our lives and our feelings. How do we process pain? What is pleasure? Knowing how our bodies "work" is the beginning of accepting ourselves, from whence we can further develop our human capacities to feel, to enjoy, and to love.

Two Ancient Religions
We are thoroughly immersed in the Western and Judeo-Christian culture. What do the ancient Sumerians, Greeks, Hindi, Romans, Gauls, and Egyptians have to say to us about our lives? In this class we will explore the polarities of Father-Sky-God and Mother-Earth-Goddess as well as some of the ancient fertility cults that worshipped with their sexual activity and sacred temple prostitutes.
Three Energy Work
People of the Eastern Hemisphere believe that man is composed of energy centers, which control our health, our actions, our feelings, and our lives. What does this mean? How does this work? And how can we use this understanding in the dungeon? What do we mean when we call what we do a "Power Exchange?"
Four The Sacred Circle
The circle has long been an honored way of conducting meetings. Utilizing a technique adapted from Paganism we will explore the "parts" of a sacred circle and how they can be used in our sexual play for protection, insight, wisdom, worship, and manifestation. This is a prelude to Sex Magic.
Five Sex Magic
What is magic and how do we use sex magically? How does this all work and why? Using all the concepts we've explored in the previous workshops we will seek ways to grow as whole and holy beings.
Six Q&A
Let's take some time to ask and answer questions. Use this last workshop to explore your own questions and to satisfy your curiosity. A very personal "wrap-up" for those who still have questions.
